I’ve had my hair dyed pink for the past 2-3 years now and it can be a hassle to spend 2 hours strategically slathering dye in my hair, and then waiting another 1-2 hours till I have to rinse it out. That’s not including trips to my hairdresser and sitting in a chair for hours getting my roots done.
oVertone sent me a couple of their products to try out, and boy am I glad I did. Aside from the array of colors they offer, they’re also vegan, cruelty-free, sulfate-free, curl friendly, and allow HOT SHOWERS. The whole “hot showers” thing really caught my eye because all us colored-hair babes know how much we hate standing under cold water, just for the sake of keeping our locks brighter for longer.
I shampooed my hair and then massaged the Extreme Pink Deep Treatment and a touch of the Pastel Red Deep Treatment into my wet hair, focusing mainly around my roots. (You can use oVertone on dry hair for an even brighter result!) I ran the Extreme Pink Daily Conditioner through the bottom half of my hair. It only took a few minutes to get all my hairs coated with product, which is already ten times faster than doing a full blown dye job. It has a very pleasant smell, like slightly sweet peppermint, but it isn’t overpowering. oVertone recommends you wear gloves when using their products since they can stain your skin a bit.
I wanted my hair to be pretty bright, so I waited 15-30 minutes which is longer than necessary, but also not a lot of time at all when compared to dying your hair. I took care of my other shower tasks while I waited, so it’s not like you’re just standing there watching the water run. I rinsed it out like I would any conditioner and let my hair air dry.
The results are amazing. The conditioners left my hair a vibrant pink and soft to the touch. I recommend you guys try oVertone whether you’re trying to maintain your hair color, or you’re freshening it up before an event.
