Recently, Urban Decay released another foundation in their naked line, Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation ($39). According to Ulta’s website, it claims to have, “50 shades designed with 9 shade intensities, 3 mastertones, and 7 undertones in mind. This waterproof longwear foundation feels like a second skin, thanks to a breathable, flexible formula that moves with you (all day and all night, up to 24 hours!). It not only feels better, it even looks better with its stay-true color, which minimizes the appearance of pores.” They also released the corresponding Stay Naked Correcting Concealer, and Stay Naked Pro Customizer (comes in white and red so you can customize how light or warm your foundation and concealer needs to be for your skintone).
One thing I admire most about this product is how in depth they went into undertones, because no one is just yellow, pink, or neutral. For example, my skin tone is light yellow-neutral with green/olive undertones. So often when I search for my match with other brands, the pale and light shades are not olive enough and have a lot of pink-neutral or peachy-neutral tones, which makes finding a perfect match nearly impossible. I’ve had to mix green concealers into my foundations countless times.
Key points every foundation needs to hit for me is that it doesn’t break me out, lasts all day, doesn’t have fragrance (or isn’t too fragranced), and doesn’t feel heavy.
I wish the foundation didn’t cost as much, but it’s pretty comparable to my holy grail high end foundation, Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation ($35), but my drugstore holy grail is the L’oreal Infallible 24HR Fresh Wear Foundation ($15), so it’s over double the price of my drugstore fave.
The packaging is nice and sleek, but nothing mind blowing in my opinion. It has a nice coppery rose gold cap, with clear plastic intentionally “missing”. And YES, it comes with a pump, however it isn’t my favorite pump. You can’t control how much you squirt out, kind of like the Mac Pro Longwear Concealer’s pump.
The formula isn’t runny, but it’s not particularly thick or whipped either. I like to apply it with a beauty blender after I’ve properly moisturized and applied my primer. You definitely want to moisturize well with this foundation so that it truly looks like a second skin, rather than it clinging onto crusty bits or emphasizing dryness. It dries down to soft natural matte with some radiance coming through. It is VERY lightweight, doesn’t really have a scent, at least it’s nothing strong or off putting at all. Definitely breathable and moves with the skin. The rest of my makeup applied nicely over top as well.
I wore this foundation for 10 hours and for someone with combination oily acne prone skin, it still looked very smooth and held up very well. I was sweating out in the heat and also sweating indoors where it had AC since my temperature runs a little higher than the norm. I usually have to touch up around the 5 or 6 hour mark, so I blotted my oil and applied my blotting powder, and it looked practically brand new. When I touch up with other foundations, it usually looks a little cakey around my nose, so I was pleasantly surprised that this one touched up nicely. I was talking and smiling all day, so it did crease a bit in my laugh lines, but not as bad as all the other foundations I’ve tried.
All in all, I have to say I LOVE this foundation. It looks great in real life, great in pictures, and it’s very comfortable all day long. The shade is such a perfect match for me since it has those olive undertones and is light enough for me. I’m curious to see how it performs during the colder seasons. It covered ALL my key points. I definitely approve of this one! If you’re interested in purchasing this foundation, they sell it at Ulta, Sephora, and on Urban Decay’s website.
